Historic Fight: Mayweather v McGregor
It’s a fight that’s been on the cards for ages. After much wrangling though – mainly over money – the fight was eventually agreed, and the whole boxing/MMA world started to hold its breath. After all, this is a bout between arguably the greatest boxer of his generation, and the biggest name in the world of UFC, so what’s not to be excited about?
In one corner, there’s Floyd Mayweather, the man who has won belts at an astounding five different weight divisions. During his time in the ring, he fought 49 times, and never tasted defeat. He’s now 40 years old, and hasn’t fought since 2015, so will he be able to fight at the same level as before? Most people agree that he’ll still be a force to be reckoned with.
In the other corner, there’s the precocious challenger – the man who currently holds the lightweight championship in UFC, and has also been champion in the featherweight division. The fact that McGregor will be transitioning to an entirely different sport makes him the big underdog in the upcoming mega-fight, however he’s younger than Mayweather, and has already shown great determination to succeed in UFC.
If you ask anyone, you’ll probably receive the same answer – Mayweather will win the fight easily. After all, they’re locking horns in his sport, and not in MMA, and he has never lost a bout in the ring. Bitcoin sportsbooks seem to take the same view, so they are only offering very short odds on a Mayweather victory, and you’ll struggle to even find even money if you want to bet on Mayweather.
If you want to bet on McGregor, you’ll receive much higher odds. Of course, his chances of winning are small though. Those looking for the perfect balance of good odds and a good chance of winning are probably best off betting on the round Mayweather will win in. A second or third round stoppage looks to be the most likely result. It might go on for longer, but it’s unlikely that Mayweather will allow the fight to go the distance, as he isn’t as fit as he was a few years ago.
Bitcoin Sports Betting
If this fight had happened a few years ago, we wouldn’t even be talking about betting using Bitcoin. This is because Bitcoin has seen a meteoric rise over the last few years, going from a niche currency only used by a few, to a currency now accepted at many big sites, including a number of large sportsbooks.
There are many reasons why Bitcoin’s popularity has risen so quickly, but none are bigger than the security it provides. This is a currency that allows online gamblers to bet completely anonymously, with some sites not even requiring a gambler to input any personal details. There’s also the fact that Bitcoin is almost entirely free, and is certainly much cheaper than using services such as Neteller, Skrill or PayPal.
